Review of my new book by Dr. Augustine Akalonu

CRITICAL RACE THEORY. Woooooh. I know. Me too. I’ve done my best to avoid the topic in these past couple of years. I just did not feel that I knew enough to compose an informed opinion on the subject. Well, problem solved. I’ve just read CRITICAL FAITH, an excellent book on the Critical Race Theory, by my old friend, Dr Joni Schwartz-Chaney. Dr Schwartz first demystifies the Critical Race theory, providing historical context for proper understanding of what the originators of the theory really meant to point up. Then she casts an incisive gaze at the Body of Christ, producing one of the most pointed analyses I have ever seen of its historical response to the issue of social injustice, a subject to which four of the Ten Commandments are devoted. Possessed of a thorough knowledge of the Bible, she holds the inescapable mirror of the gospel of Christ to the filthy rags that are our collective silence, indifference, ambivalence, ignorance and yes, self-righteousness. While this is not an invitation to agree with every point of her analysis, it is, however a golden opportunity to educate and re-examine our selves in light of our responsibilities to a world for which Christ gave his life. Highly recommended. Get it and read it.
